Bring the Cigar Guy Meme to Life with a Halloween Costume

A few short days ago a photographer at the UK's Daily Mail snapped a picture that would send the Internet on a mad Photoshopping spree. The photo, on its face, seemed innocuous enough. Tiger Woods goofed on a shot and the photographer snapped a picture of the ball flying directly at his camera's lens.

But it wasn't Woods, or the concerned look on his face, that has garnered the attention. Instead, it was one particular smiling man who can be seen at the very front of the crowd that is gathered behind Woods. He is wearing a strange red wig, a fake mustache, and has a large cigar in his mouth.


Cigar Man, the name the collective Internet has bestowed upon him, is now showing up (through nifty photo editing) in many other classic pictures. Indeed, he has quickly become a ubiquitous Internet meme! He has been inserted onto the cover of The Clash's famous album London Calling, a photograph of a Tea Party rally, the Apollo 11 moon landing, and a number of other pictures.

The best part, however, is that this particular Internet meme has gained so much popularity in the month of October. This makes it the perfect time to create a Cigar Man costume. With Cigar Man so fresh in everyone's mind, it would likely be a smash hit at any Halloween party. This is because topical Halloween costumes based on current events are always the best. A Cigar Man costume would be a well recognized and awesome Halloween costume.

A Cigar Guy costume wouldn't be difficult to make, either. With a few simple steps anyone can create their own Cigar Man costume! All you need is a red wig, a fake mustache, the biggest cigar you can find, a navy blue nylon jacket, a navy blue shirt, light blue dress pants, and a pair of golf shoes. The red wig, fake mustache, and cigar can likely be found at any Halloween costume store or department store. However, if you want the Halloween costume to be as authentic as possible you should (assuming you are of legal age) purchase a real cigar. If you do not have the clothing lying around any Goodwill or Salvation Army store would be a good place to look. The white golf shoes, which will complete the perfect Cigar Man costume, can be found at any sporting goods or department store.

Once you have all of the items for your Cigar Guy costume all you have to do is put it together to look like the famous picture and you will have the best Halloween costume at any party!
